This auction is for 2 plates shown. These measure 7 3/4" in diameter, no chips or cracks, have some typical gold trim wear, Bottom marked Western Airlines Abco Tableware 0 447-30860 Japan.
The 60th anniversary logo was used on these plates in 1986. Western merged with Delta and ceased operation in April 1987.
Airline related items have been great collectible and souvenir items probably since December 17, 1903 when the Wright brother, Wilbur and Orville were credited with building the world's first successful airplane. Over the years the airplane evolved from single engine planes carrying mail and cargo to the 300 passenger planes we have today. Airlines have come and gone, were reborn and merged.
