Bought this as a gift for my garden-mad wife, and it was a huge hit. She's a penny-pincher and has never had many good tools. She'd been using a cheap trowel she bought at a yard sale for a quarter. It kept bending because it was a flimsy piece of dung. (I ordered several other good, new tools, too.) The thick steel of this tool is impressive - very sturdy. Don't think she can bend this one. The oversize handle provides a comfortable grip, and adds leverage, helping to ease the strain to arms and hands - a good ergonomic design. And it feels right - well-balanced and well-proportioned to its tasks. Though heavier than her old one, it tires her less, due to the good handle and the fact that the weight actually helps rather than hinders the work. My wife was surprised how much a well-made tool could help ease a job - you'd think she'd already know that since she's married to me. : ) Highly recommended.
I really can’t say much about this trowel. It is still in it Box in the garage. Snow and winter weather. Not gardening season yet.. BUT, I can say why I selected this particular trowel. Choices in walk in stores is limited, and over the years I’ve found these tools rust and don’tcut into the soil as I’d like them to. And the blades loosen in the handles. This trowel has a stainless steel blade and shouldn’t rust, also it is bigger than most other trowels out there. I’m almost 80 and need the tool to do the work, not to have to work the tool. Time will tell if it deserves the 5 star rating I am giving it.
WOW if you bend this trowel you are some strong. It is quite sturdy and it really is well built. I found that I needed to sharpen the blade tip area to make it somewhat easier to dig with as the blade is a nice thick stainless steel and can present a problem putting it into the ground if you don't sharpen the rounded end of the trowel. A really great trowel and I am very happy with it after spend a lot of money on flimsy trowels in the past.
